THE THEORY TEST
The theory test is in two parts, a multiple choice question part and a hazard perception part. You must pass both parts to pass the theory test.
- The Multiple Choice section

The Multiple Choice part is taken by using a touch screen computer; you will be asked 50 multiple choice questions in 57 minutes and you have to answer 43 or more questions correctly to pass.
- The Hazard Perception section
The Hazard perception part is 14 computer based video clips featuring everyday road scenes. Each clip includes one developing hazard, but one clip will feature two developing hazard. You respond to the hazards by clicking the mouse the maximum you can score on each hazard is five, and the pass mark is 44 out of a possible 75.

THE PRACTICAL TEST
The driving test will start with an eyesight check and two vehicle safety questions. The driving part of your test will last for about 40 minutes during which you will be asked to drive independently for approximately 10 minutes by following road signs, a short series of directions, or a combination of both. However, it doesn't matter if you go the wrong way or ask for confirmation of where you are going, that can happen to the most experienced drivers. You will also be asked to carry out one reversing manoeuvre ie. reversing round a corner, turning in the road, or reverse parking, and possibly an emergency stop. In order pass your driving test you will need to demonstrate to your examiner an overall safe, competent and confident standard of driving.
